Mentorship
"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together" - African Proverb
Through research and community dialogues our YFGG mentoring programs are structured to shape the lives of refugee youth so they can grow into confident functioning members of society. With social and educational pressures students go through, refugee youth find themselves at a disadvantage adjusting to the American culture, coping with identity, and the trauma associated with the refugee journey. Here at YFGG we take distinct approaches to address these obstacles and introduce positive relationships as a community.
Group Mentoring
Our group mentoring allows volunteers, community leaders, and youth to come together in creative ways to tackle shared difficulties and enjoy each other. Whether we break off by age group, or come together as one, with many meaningful relevant topics there's a sense of togetherness that unifies us in the fight for change.

Mental Health & Wellness
The generational trauma that has been proven to be present in refugees often goes unaddressed among youth. With lack of positive influences & role models along with the gap between generations within our community, there is a need for mental health and wellness to be incorporated into our programming. Encouragement, comfort, advice. Whatever help our individual members need, our leaders and mentors are always here to provide. We are a diverse group of people sharing common experiences and concerns with one another.

Greater Good for GIRLS
YFGG has a belief that every single one of us is resilient, and that our resilience can be fostered with the help and support of a community. At YFGG we are passionate champions of girl empowerment. Together we provide the place and space for personal growth, self-reflection, learning, and bonding. We invite you to find out more information and hope you will join us.

Monthly Field Trips
Each month of the year we take our youth on field trips or host events and activities to engage not just participating members but also youth in the community. This is an opportunity to bridge the gap within the South Sudanese community and the Omaha community at large. We want to set a tone that our youth and community can congregate for positive wholesome fun that doesn't have to include trauma bonding and risky behaviors.

Greater Good for BOYS
With a diverse group of mentors and leaders of adult and young adult males in our community that share a common experience and concerns, YFGG provides monthly group mentoring and outings for the young boys in our community. Using tools like sports, wellness and fun activities to spark meaningful dialogues and mentorship, our goal is to provide a safe space for boys to connect and receive positive guidance.

Career Connect Club
Our Career Connect Club inspires youth to turn their hobbies, interest, and passions into sustainable income and way of life. Through programs like our upcoming Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and strategic lessons, participants are embolden to learn financial literacy, the power of networking, exploring careers, job shadowing and more! This is the place for youth ready to make the commitment to step into their power and learn alongside like minded peers.
